Imagine growing up in Haiti. You work hard because you want a better life. Eventually, you make it to America, marry the love of your life and have 3 beautiful children. The hard work isn’t over though. You have to continue working 2 jobs to financially support your family and pay the mortgage. For decades, you never miss a mortgage payment. In fact, you pay early every month. Then, one day the bank calls to say you qualify for a loan modification. Your new payment is X, which is much less than your old payment. Lucky you!
Of course, you trust the Bank because, why would they LIE and tell you to make a smaller payment? Then, months later, after you have made all payments as agreed and on time, they start rejecting your payments. You mail in a payment and they mail it back! You begin to get notices saying you owe a tremendous amount of money and if you don’t pay in-full and immediately, your home will be foreclosed upon… This is exactly what happened to Etienne Syldor, a native of Haiti who now lives in Orlando, FL. Read the full story here.
When are the Banks going to be punished by these criminal actions? This is the same as STEALING someone’s home! Many, many people need to see the inside of a jail cell over this. It’s not just Mr. Syldor, I’m hearing stories like this every week right here in San Diego and it’s got to stop! They can’t keep stealing houses from immigrants and senior citizens. It’s not fair and it’s NOT RIGHT!
